Albarino

White GrapeGalicia Region of Spain and Portugal Origin is believed to be north eastern portugal. Small clusters, with ripening in mid season.1

Alicante B

Black grape, with colored fleshMain Areas Grown- Southern France, Spain in Castilla- LaMancha, Valenciana and CaliforniaSynonym- Granacha Tintorera (Spain) Origin of Alicante Bouschet- A cross between Grenache and Petite Bouschet in the mid 1800's. This was performed by Henri Bouschet. Alicante Bouschet is in a rare class, called Teinturier. These are grapes that have color in the flesh, not just the skin. A couple others are Salvador ( which will stain your skin for about a week) and also Rubired. 1

Barbera

Black GrapeOrigin is believed to be in Monferrato( Piedmont) are of Italy.Medium sized clusters and berries with ripening in late season. This grape is known for retaining high acids even late in season. This variety has been showing very well in the Sierra Foothills of California.3

Cabernet F

Black SkinsOrigin has been confirmed from the Basque area. Used as a blending grape in Bordeaux. Higher percentages are in the St. Emilion and Pomerol regions of Bordeaux.Medium sized clusters with small berries. Mid season ripening and vigorous growth characteristics. Made as a stand alone wine in the Loire Valley. This grape has shown very well in the foothill region of the Sierra Nevada.3

Cabernet S

Black GrapeOrigin has been confirmed that it is a cross between Cab Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in the Girondes region of Bordeaux. Made famous in the Medoc and Graves region of bordeaux..Vigorous late ripening variety. Berries are small with thick skins, they have a distinctive bluish huge about them.2

Carignane

Black GrapeOrigins- Thought to be from the Aragon region in Spain. Predominantly grown in Southern France. Smaller plantings in Spain. In California it is mostly grown in the Central Valley, as a high yielding variety. Foothills and Mendocino County have found it to be making nice rustic reds.Vigorous growth habit with late ripening. Very susceptible to Powdery Mildew.1
